Helping Build Families through Your Egg Donation

If you’ve never struggled with infertility, it’s easy to take your own fertility for granted, but for some couples, the lack of viable eggs prevents them from building their own families. Your willingness to donate eggs could make all the difference for a childless couple.

Being an egg donor allows you to help couples to build a family of their own while earning a stipend for your efforts. Many egg donors are students and use egg donation to supplement their income while completing their studies.

Donated eggs can be used by women who are able to carry a pregnancy to term or couples working with a gestational surrogate. Egg donation is a safe process, and fertility clinics throughout the country are available to work with egg donors. Choose a clinic or a surrogate agency that is experienced and knowledgeable and they will be able to walk you through the entire process.

What’s required to become an egg donor?

  • You must be a female between the ages of 21-28
  • In good health and willing to provide detailed medical history
  • Able to self-administer daily injections
  • Must be a non-smoker
  • Cannot be a drug user
  • Must have a regular monthly menstrual cycle
  • Your height and weight must be proportionate (BMI between 18 and 28)
  • You cannot have had new tattoos or body piercings within the last year
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Available to attend 6-10 medical appointments over a 3-month period

What’s it like to donate eggs?

You will undergo a course of fertility medications to stimulate the production of eggs. On the day the eggs are to be retrieved, you will be placed under sedation and the eggs retrieved vaginally. You will be asked to remain at the hospital for monitoring for an hour or two before going home to rest. You will be given antibiotics and should take it easy for the rest of the day. Post-retrieval symptoms may include bloating and cramping, but you should be able to return to your regular activities the next day.
